The government continues to conduct joint operations in the Shwe Kokko area and the KK Park area, where suspects commit telecom fraud and online gambling activities. The combined teams comprising security personnel and administrative bodies are involved in these operations, which include entering the areas, dismantling and removing illegal buildings, and taking further action in accordance with the law.
In wiping off telecom frauds and online gambling activities, buildings used in carrying out online gambling and fraud are being demolished in three sections in the Myawady-Maethawtalay (KK Park) area. So far, all 148 buildings have been demolished in the section 1 area. The buildings in Section 3 are also being dismantled starting from 17 November. As 11 more illegal buildings were destroyed yesterday, a total of 80 buildings out of 425 illegal buildings have so far been demolished in the Section 3 area. Up to now, 228 buildings out of 635 unlawful buildings have been dismantled in the KK Park area.
Likewise, a similar operation is being conducted in the Shwe Kokko area, starting from 18 November. On the seventh day, yesterday, authorities searched one 17-storey building, four seven-storey buildings, one 13-storey building and four six-storey buildings in the Shwe Kokko area, but it was found that no one was involved in the telecom fraud and online gambling. Authorities found one Starlink satellite receiver, one router and 205 assorted computers there and continue the searching and clearing measures.
Yesterday, the authorities arrested 101 more foreign nationals, including 81 Chinese, 13 Vietnamese, two Ethiopians, two Indians, one Pakistani and two from Chinese Taipei, who have been hiding after committing online scams and gambling in the Shwe Kokko area, where they entered illegally via some neighbouring countries, including Thailand. According to the operations conducted in the Shwe Kokko area, 1,847 foreign nationals who entered Myanmar illegally were arrested together with 3,098 computers, 21,750 mobile phones, 102 Starlink satellite receivers, 22 routers and a large number of industrial materials used in telecom fraud and online gambling activities. Authorities systematically destroyed the seized materials and continue the operation to expose the offences.
The arrested foreign nationals are being detained at the building in Lonhtin compound of Shwe Kokko Myaing Village, Pulwepu Village-tract in Myawady Township. Yesterday, the Illegal Foreigner Investigation Team verified 200 foreign nationals. The relevant departmental combined teams are carrying out the necessary processes, including collecting personal data and recording required documentation to enable their prompt repatriation to their respective countries as quickly as possible.
From 30 January to 24 November 2025, a total of 12,687 foreign nationals who had entered Myanmar illegally were detained. Of these, 12,343 individuals were screened to be expelled, and 9,978 were systematically repatriated to their respective countries through Thailand in accordance with legal procedures. The remaining 2,709 foreign nationals are now ready to be transferred to their respective countries, and they are being properly held and cared for during this process.
The government considers the eradication of telecom fraud and online gambling crimes as a national responsibility and, to ensure that such activities can no longer operate within Myanmar, will continue its efforts in coordination not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbouring countries.
