According to the Yangon Region Agriculture Department, 284,246 acres of monsoon paddy were successfully harvested in the region in 2025-2026.

In nine districts in Yangon Region, 775,050 acres of high-yield varieties, 23,624 acres of high-quality varieties, 343,481 acres of resident varieties and 1,142,155 acres of monsoon paddy were planted, and 248,246 acres were harvested as of the second week of November, and it produced 73.67 per cent per acre.

The region Agriculture Department distributed 3,879 tonnes of urea fertilizers to the farmers to be able to plant monsoon paddy, summer paddy and edible crops in 2025-2026, and conducted contract farming with 32 units including companies, rice mills and cooperatives for 55,000 acres of monsoon paddy in 12 townships using State Economic Promotion Fund for 2025-2026, and distributed 8,945.29 tonnes of urea fertilizers and 7,000 tonnes of compound fertilizers at cheaper prizes.

In order to increase the per-acre yield of monsoon paddy and achieve the target yield, activities are being carried out under the leadership of the regional government. These activities include improving soil fertility, ensuring correct cultivation practices, proper crop management and pest and disease control, providing post-harvest technology training, demonstrating the use of drum seeders, and conducting model plot harvesting and providing assistance. During the monsoon paddy harvesting season, preparations are being made to continue cultivating winter crops such as green gram, mung bean, and edible oil crops such as groundnut, sesame, sunflower, as well as summer paddy. Out of the total 1,142,155 acres of monsoon paddy cultivated in the region, the remaining paddy fields are being cultivated.
