The Kachin Traditional Harvest Feast was organized at the Majwe Hall of Manau Ground in Sitapu Ward in Myitkyina, Kachin State, yesterday.

State Security and Peace Commission Member and Union Minister for Border Affairs and for Ethnic Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Union Ministers U Nyan Tun and Dr Myo Thein Kyaw and relevant officials attended the event jointly organized by the Kachin State Government and the Kachin Traditional Cultural Association.

The ceremony included blessing rituals by religious leaders and speeches highlighting unity, cultural preservation, and community harmony.

In his speech, Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae appreciated the meaning and essence of the harvest feast as it shows the conservation of tradition, prosperity and unity of ethnic people and also supports the country in addition to the state stability and comprehensive development.

After the ceremonial procedures, the Union minister and party had lunch prepared from the newly harvested rice.

At noon, the Union minister visited the No 2 Training School for Development of Nationalities Youth from Border Areas in Myitkyina and heard the report made by the Kachin State Development Supervisor and principal of the training school.

He met with staff, teachers and students of Kachin State Development Supervisory Office, Kachin State Education and Training Department and training school, and highlighted the chances provided by the Ministry of Border Affairs for the youths to attend the training schools and further studies for higher education after completing the training.

He presented cash prizes to the staff and students, and inspected the school compound, maintenance work for Kachin State Development Supervisory Office residence and staff housing, dormitory of the No 1 training school and staff housing of the Ministry of Border Affairs in Ayeya ward.

On arrival at the office of the Kachin State Director’s Office of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs in Shwe Sett ward, the Union Minister highlighted the duties to conserve the literature, culture and tradition of ethnic people, and presented cash prizes and materials to the staff.
