The closing ceremony of the Student Cultural Exchange Programme, organized under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2025), was held yesterday evening at the Summit Parkview Hotel in Yangon. The programme ran from 9 to 12 November.

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing emphasized the importance of cultural and educational exchanges in human resource development. He highlighted that such exchanges foster mutual respect, trust, equality, and understanding among nations, while also strengthening warm and friendly relations and enhancing educational cooperation to support human resource development.

The Deputy Minister presented commemorative gifts to teachers and student representatives from China and Thailand. Representatives from the participating countries expressed their gratitude before attending a dinner reception hosted in their honour.

The ceremony was attended by officials from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Myanmar, the Ministry of Education, representatives and students from China, Thailand, and Myanmar, as well as education officers and school heads from the Department of Basic Education.

Earlier in the morning, the visiting teachers, students, and officials toured Basic Education High School No 1 in Dagon Township, the National Museum, and the Secretariat, where they discussed measures to further strengthen cultural exchange and plan future programmes.

On 10 November, the deputy director-general of the Department of Basic Education briefed the students on the objectives of the cultural exchange programme. Student representatives from Myanmar, China, and Thailand delivered presentations on their respective education systems, customs and traditions, and cultures and arts.

On 11 November, the delegation visited the Practising High School of Yangon University of Education and the Shwedagon Pagoda as part of their cultural and educational study tour.
