UNION Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received Mr Sanjeev Bhatia, Adviser for Technology and Consulting at India’s National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), and his delegation at the ministry’s meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the progress of ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Immigration and Population and the Government of India under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration on the Digital Identity Pilot Project. They also exchanged views on India’s valuable technical experience and assistance, the integration of Myanmar’s current e-ID system with India’s MOSIP platform to enhance the efficiency of public service delivery, and the continued collaboration to ensure the success of Myanmar’s e-Government projects, for which the e-ID system serves as a fundamental component.
The technical experts from NISG who are currently in Myanmar will, under the MoU, work together with the ministry’s technical officers to conduct technical trials and integration tests for the Digital ID Pilot Project from 11 to 19 November, and share their experience in this process.
Together with the Union minister at the meeting were Deputy Minister U Htay Hlaing, the Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, and other senior officials.
