Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, the Nay Pyi Taw Council, regional and state special task forces, and the Customs Department have been effectively implementing measures to combat illegal trade.

Owing to reports from responsible citizens, 49 verified tip-offs were received in October 2025, leading to the seizure of 119 cases of illegal trade. The total estimated value of the seized items amounted to K6,477.12 million, including unregistered vehicles and motorbikes used for transporting illegal goods.

The confiscated items included industrial raw materials, consumer products, foodstuffs, electronic goods, various types of illegal timber, and medicines. Such unlawful import and export activities hinder the implementation of the nation’s economic objectives, disrupt trade sector growth, and negatively affect the country’s socioeconomic stability. Therefore, responsible citizens are encouraged to continue reporting any information related to illegal imports and exports.

The seized items also included industrial and construction materials and electrical goods. These illegal imports not only cause financial losses to the State through tax evasion but also undermine fair competition in the market for legitimate importers. Hence, the public is urged to cooperate by providing information on illegal trade.

Informants who contributed to these cases in October 2025 will remain confidential and will receive a total reward of K1,295.424 million, representing 20 per cent of the estimated value of the seized items. Authorities are making arrangements to expedite the payment of these rewards.

Responsible citizens may report information regarding illegal trade through the following contact channels: mobile number 09 699611116, landline number 067 409883, or email antiillegaltradeinfo@gmail.com.
