The 37th anniversary celebration of the General Administration Department was held at 10 am yesterday at Hotel Max in Nay Pyi Taw.

The ceremony was attended by State Security and Peace Commission Member and Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Aung Kyaw Kyaw, Permanent Secretary U Khaing Tun Oo, and officials from various forces and departments.

The Union minister stated that the General Administration Department (GAD) has played an important role throughout Myanmar’s administrative history, continuing to serve as a major pillar supporting State administration through various reforms and changes in the country’s administrative mechanism, fulfilling its duties in implementing objectives such as upholding the rule of law, maintaining community peace, promoting regional development, and ensuring public welfare, and adhering to key policies, including compliance with national directives, alignment with fundamental principles, and observance of established procedures.

The Union minister expressed great pride in the efforts of the staff of the GAD, who worked closely with district and township disaster management teams in search and rescue operations, damage assessment, temporary shelter provision, and rehabilitation efforts. He also emphasized that staff and employees should continue to fulfil their responsibilities to ensure the successful holding of a free and fair general election and to develop into capable administrative personnel committed to serving the interests of the country.

In the ceremony, uniforms and basic food items were distributed to GAD employees, exemplary awards and first prizes were presented to participants of courses conducted at civil service universities and the Administrative Skill Development Training School, and awards were also given to children of GAD employees who excelled in the matriculation entrance examination.
