MYANMAR authorities have detained 150 Indian nationals and one South Korean national who entered the country illegally and were involved in online gambling and fraud. The detainees, who crossed border routes via neighbouring countries, including Thailand, were apprehended in Kayin State’s Myawady-Maehtawthalay (KK Park) area.
The detainees are currently under investigation, with relevant authorities compiling personal records and coordinating repatriation to their home countries in accordance with legal procedures. The operation is overseen by Myawady District Administrator U Kaung San Lin, and Deputy Director U Myint Bhone from the Ministry of Immigration and Population, along with other officials.
From 30 January to 26 October 2025, Myanmar authorities have identified and detained a total of 9,964 foreign nationals entering the country illegally. Among them, 9,339 have been repatriated via Thailand following legal procedures, while 625 remain under secure custody awaiting repatriation.
