The final match of the 62nd Defence Services Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) Football Tournament for 2025 was held in conjunction with the awarding ceremony at the Zeyathiri Tatmadaw Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
State Security and Peace Commission Chairman and Defence Services Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing watched the final match and presented prizes to the winners.
In the final match, the football teams representing the Camp Commandant’s Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and the Yangon Command launched counterattacks against each other in utmost efforts to score the leading goal, but neither side could score a goal. Hence, the first half of the match ended with a goalless result.
In the second half, both teams continued to compete fiercely against each other, but since neither side managed to score, the match remained goalless at the final whistle, leading to extra time being played. In the first half of the extra time, the team representing the Camp Commandant’s Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) scored a valuable goal. As such, the team representing the Camp Commandant’s Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) secured victory with a 1-0 win over the team representing the Yangon Command.
After the final match, the awarding ceremony of the football tournament followed. Quartermaster-General Lt-Gen Zaw Hein presented individual best player awards in respective positions and the best player award of the tournament to the relevant players, while Chairman of the Tatmadaw Sports and Physical Education Administration Committee Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Phone Myat gave the third prize to the Central Command team. Lt-Gen Ni Lin Aung of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) handed the second prize, individual medals and a cash prize to the Yangon Command team.
Commission member, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Kyaw Swa Lin presented individual medals to the players from the first-prize winning team representing the Camp Commandant’s Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).
Commission Vice-Chairman, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win gave the trophy and cash award to the fairplay award-winning Southern Command team.
Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, presented the championship trophy, a duplicate trophy and a cash award to players and the administrator officer from the team representing the Camp Commandant’s Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), which secured the first prize in the football tournament.
Afterwards, the Senior General and party cordially greeted players.
Also, present at the ceremony were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, the wife of the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air), Union-level dignitaries, Union ministers and their wives, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, Tatmadaw members and trainees from the Tatmadaw football academy.
