The 14th Myanmar-China meeting on Cooperation in Combatting Trafficking in Persons was held at the Parkroyal Hotel, Yangon, yesterday.
The meeting was attended by representatives led by Officiating Police Brig-Gen Zaw San, Commander of the Anti-Human Trafficking Police Force, and representatives led by Director Mr Wang Yong Can from the Anti-Human Trafficking Department of the Criminal Investigation Police Force under the Ministry of Public Security, the People’s Republic of China.
The meeting aims to effectively cooperate in investigating and detecting human trafficking, assisting and rescuing victims of human trafficking, assisting in the investigation and arrest of traffickers, and conducting information exchange on human trafficking. The meeting discussed the situation of cross-border human trafficking and the changing patterns of human trafficking, cooperation in investigating human trafficking, rescuing victims of human trafficking and arresting perpetrators, information exchange between the two countries and the ways to reduce illegal entry/exit and human trafficking between the two countries.
