The Ministry of Transport and Communications celebrated the 151st World Post Day in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

In his speech, Union Minister U Mya Tun Oo explained that this year’s theme is “POSTFORPEOPLE: Local Service. Global Reach”, which reflects that the postal service sector plays a vital role in global connectivity by providing postal services to the people across the nation, from urban areas to rural and remote villages. It also serves as a guiding vision for continued efforts dedicated to the people, the nation, and the entire world.

He emphasized that postal services play a vital role in connecting communities worldwide, not only through traditional services but also by embracing digital innovation to stay relevant in the future.

A video message from the UPU Director General and a commemorative clip were also screened during the event. Awards were also presented to winners of the 54th International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People, and certificates of honour to the judging panel members.

After the ceremony, attendees visited the postal exhibition, which showcased the history and evolution of Myanmar’s postal services through documents, photos, and materials.
