Union Minister for Defence General Maung Maung Aye attended the fourth anniversary of the founding of the Myanmar Coast Guard yesterday.

Speaking at the event, the Union minister highlighted the objective of the founding of the Myanmar Coast Guard, which plays a key role in protecting maritime interests. He also added that the Coast Guard should serve a duty in ensuring the State’s stability, maritime law enforcement and economic growth, and it needs to serve as White Hull Diplomat in matters related to the maritime law enforcement organizations and international maritime affairs.

He added that the government enacted the Myanmar Coast Guard law on 17 July 2025, and the law states the effectiveness, justice, safety, protection and practical actions in carrying out the law enforcement measures in Myanmar’s waters. The Coast Guard serves duty in accordance with the Myanmar Coast Guard Law and existing law, and should keep learning further maritime law.

The Union minister cordially greeted the officers and other ranks of the Coast Guard. He observed around the booths at the Myanmar Coast Guard Headquarters and the coast guard vessel.
