THE ceremony to mark World Teachers’ Day 2025 was held at the Mandalay University in Mandalay yesterday.

The event was attended by Union Minister for Education Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, the Mandalay Region chief minister, deputy ministers, officials, honourable persons, outstanding teachers, prize-winning teachers and students.

The event began with a performance of the song ‘Myat Sayar’ by students from No 14 Basic Education High School, Mandalay.

Union Minister Dr Chaw Chaw Sein read out the message sent by Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu, Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing to the World Teachers’ Day ceremony. Rector of the University of Foreign Languages, Yangon, Dr May San Yi read out messages from the leaders of five UN agencies.

The Union minister and party presented certificates of appreciation and cash prizes to honourable persons, outstanding teachers and winners in article, essay and poem competitions to mark World Teachers’ Day 2025.
