Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.
On 22 August, the combined teams impounded three trucks (estimated value of K115 million), heading to Mandalay from Mawlamyine, carrying foodstuffs worth K21.25 million without official documents at the Nyaungkhashay permanent checkpoint and illegal teaks and timbers worth K8.083 million in Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts. The action was conducted under the Forest Law and Customs procedures.
Additionally, on 21 and 15 August, the combined on-duty teams seized an unregistered motorbikes (estimated value of K400,000) in Hinthada township, illegal teak valued at K3.533 million in Lewe and Ottarathiri districts and 14 vehicles with four trailers (estimated value of K875 million) carrying industrial materials, consumer goods and foodstuffs valued at K2.989 billion in Paung and Mawlamyine townships. The action was taken as per Customs procedures and the related laws.
Similarly, on 23 and 22 August, the on-duty teams nabbed four arrests of drugs worth K2.768 million in Nay Pyi Taw, Bago and Magway regions, as well as 13 unregistered vehicles and 22 unregistered motorbikes. The action was conducted under the related laws.
The Steering Committee reported 65 arrests on 15, 21, 22 and 23 August, seizing illegal goods worth approximately K4.015 billion.
