Union Minister for Border Affairs and for Ethnic Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, together with Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko and Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung inspected construction of the Taninthayi Region Ethnic Centre in Sanchi Ward of Dawei yesterday morning.

The Engineer in-charge of Successful TMA Construction Co Ltd reported to the Union Minister on progress of construction. The Chief Minister explained plans to host ethnic traditional cultural festivals, commemorative ceremonies, vocational courses and talk shows at the centre.

After giving necessary instructions for construction tasks, the Union Minister observed progress of the project.

The Ethnic Literature and Culture Department manages construction of the Ethnic Centre in Sanchi Ward of Dawei, with the contribution of the Taninthayi Region government fund in 2025-26 financial year. The centre will be a two-storey RC building with measurement of 50 feet by 60 feet, including other related construction processes for the roof slab and an extension roof.
