With the support of Part II of the Thailand-Myanmar Transboundary Haze Pollution Management Project, a handover ceremony of computers and equipment for Fire Hotspot and haze monitoring, along with the opening of a technology management training course, was held yesterday morning at the Environmental Conservation Department, Office 58 in Nay Pyi Taw.

The event saw Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Min Thu, the Permanent Secretary and officials concerned, Thai Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Mongkol Visitstump, First Secretary Mr Wuthikiat Chaicharna, Director-General Dr Sakda Tridech from Thailand’s Pollution Control Department and delegation members, as well as invitees.

The ceremony aimed to enhance Myanmar’s capacity in computer technology management for Fire Hotspot and haze monitoring, and to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand in preventing and controlling forest fires and haze occurrence.

The Thai ambassador first gave remarks regarding the ceremony and future cooperation between the two countries under the support of the Transboundary Haze Pollution Management Project (Part II). The Deputy Minister then delivered a welcome address.

Afterwards, the Thai ambassador handed over the computers and equipment to the deputy minister, who in turn presented commemorative gifts to the Thai delegation leaders.
The deputy minister and his team then inspected the trainees receiving practical training in computer technology management for Fire Hotspot and haze monitoring.
