A ceremony to mark the International Youth Day 2025 took place at Hotel Max in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
It was attended by Union Ministers Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, Dr Myo Thein Kyaw and Dr Soe Win, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, deputy ministers, departmental officials, award winners, youth delegates from regions and states, representatives of youths with disabilities, maritime and aviation youths, members of Red Cross and Scouts, students from universities, colleges and institutes from Nay Pyi Taw and officials from youth development organizations.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, who is also chairperson of Myanmar Youth Affairs Central Committee, said the theme of 2025 International Youth Day is Local Youth Actions For The SDGs And Beyond spotlighting youth as indispensable partners in transforming the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into community-driven realities.
He added that today’s youth are those who will shoulder the future responsibilities of the nation, and that the future of the country depends on their abilities, moral integrity, patriotism, sense of responsibility, and accountability. Therefore, the systematic nurturing of young people for all-round development enables them to shape and create the best future for the nation.
Deputy Minister U Zin Min Htet, who is also chairman of the Myanmar Youth Affairs Working Committee, read out the message sent by UN Secretary-General Mr Antonio Guterres.
The Union ministers and Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman presented cash prizes and certificates to the outstanding youths, and the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman donated cash for the 2025 International Youth Day and Youth’s Dialogue.
They all watched a video clip on documentaries on overall development measures for youths.
The deputy minister and officials presented certificates and cash prizes to the winners in the essay competition and those who participated in the talk show.
The talk show discussed different topics such as Cultural Heritage and Youth, Environmental Challenges and Technology and From Quality Education to Successful Economic Pathways.
