Organizations wishing to establish political parties are applying to the Union Election Commission (UEC) by stating the names of the parties they intend to establish. To date, a total of 27 groups have applied for party establishment, of which 22 have been granted permission to form political parties.
Among the 22 approved parties, the Pa-O National Development Party, led by U Soe Pu, applied yesterday for registration as a political party under Section 7 of the Political Parties Registration Law, within 30 days from the date of being granted establishment approval.
Out of the 22 approved parties that applied for registration, one party was denied, and 18 have been granted registration. The UEC continues scrutinizing the remaining parties for approval to register.
