A total of 76,741 international and domestic travellers flocked to tourism sites in Sagaing Region between January and July, said U Myint Sein, director of Sagaing Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.
“Arrivals of domestic visitors hit 76,298 while 443 foreigners visited Sagaing Region, totalling 76,741,” he elaborated.
“The Mingun cultural site hosted 243 tourists before the Mandalay earthquake that happened in late March. Consequently, the arrival of visitors significantly dropped. Fourteen hotels damaged in Sagaing Region are under repair. Some guesthouses have returned to business,” he continued.
There are 212 motels and guesthouses in Sagaing Region under the approval of the Sagaing Region Development Committee.
