The Myanmar Embassy in Cairo announced that Myanmar parents will have to do birth registration and a citizenship application for their children born outside the mother country.
The embassy has provided welfare services to Myanmar nationals living in Egypt and other countries to which it is obliged, as well as consular services in line with relevant rules and regulations. It urged Myanmar parents to do birth registration and a citizenship application within a year after the birth.

Parents will need to be Citizenship Scrutiny Card holders. If parents are National Registration Card holders, they will need to update their registration by law to proceed with birth registration for their child.

Only after birth registration is granted by the Department of Immigration and Population through the embassy so that the passport application be eligible.

Application can be sent to the Myanmar Embassy via email me.cairo@gmail.com or +20 (2) 27362644,27363123, or can visit the embassy website www.mecairo.org.
