The Taninthayi Region government has announced that a 20-megawatt solar power generation project will be implemented in Myeik Township, Taninthayi Region.

A 20-megawatt solar power generation project will be implemented in Sandawut Village, Myeik Township, Taninthayi Region, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Taninthayi Region government and Southern Green Power Co Ltd to conduct a feasibility study.

The Taninthayi Region government is implementing a regional programme to provide electricity to villages without access to the power grid, and the current project is part of that initiative.

Similarly, the Dawei Deepwater Project is reportedly developing a 660-megawatt solar power plant.

In addition, the regional government will work to establish a power grid network in Taninthayi Region areas that lack access to the main grid, ensuring electricity is distributed where necessary.
