Basic Education High Schools 1 and 2 in Nawnghkio Township, northern Shan State, have resumed teaching as of 25 July, following a nearly year-long closure due to disruptions caused by terrorist insurgents. Students have returned to classes peacefully, and school registration is also ongoing.
As part of efforts to ensure access to education for children of school-going age, the schools have reopened and are now conducting regular lessons. A total of 1,733 students are currently attending peacefully and joyfully. Also, new students who wish to enrol are being accepted, and the Ministry of Education is continuing to distribute free school textbooks, stationery, and uniforms to support them.
Meanwhile, a temporary hospital has been set up at the Mingala Hall in Nawnghkio to provide medical services to local ethnic residents. Military medical personnel, in collaboration with doctors and healthcare workers from the Ministry of Health, are providing necessary treatments. On the day of reporting, healthcare services were rendered to 282 residents.
In support of public health and environmental hygiene, efforts have been undertaken at BEPS 3 in Nawnghkio, including the removal of overgrown grass, the clearing of drainage ditches to improve water flow, and general sanitation work around the school premises.
