A Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing attended the opening ceremony of the 2025 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, held yesterday morning in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, People’s Republic of China.

The ceremony began with a group photo session featuring senior officials from ASEAN member states and China.

During his speech under the theme “Smart Education Empowering People-to-People Exchanges and Educational Cooperation”, the Deputy Minister expressed Myanmar’s strong belief that education is the cornerstone of long-term sustainable development and regional peace. He highlighted that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between Chinese and Myanmar universities serve as a crucial step toward promoting academic exchanges, joint research collaborations, and technological sharing among educators and students.

He noted that over the past five years, 19 MoUs have been signed between universities in China and Myanmar, with more partnerships planned for the future.

Following the speech, the Deputy Minister and delegation members toured exhibition booths at the venue, exploring educational initiatives and innovations.

In the afternoon, the Deputy Minister also participated in a panel discussion under the theme “Industry-Education Integration for Development”.

As part of the ceremony, outstanding students from ASEAN universities were awarded by senior education officials in recognition of their achievements.

Later in the event, Dr Ba Han, Rector of Meiktila University represented the Myanmar delegation in a presentation on “Teacher Exchange and Cooperation”.
