Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than visited the Research Department (PyinOoLwin) in PyinOoLwin Township on 19 July to review food-product quality test being carried out for MSMEs in Upper Myanmar. He inspected laboratory analysis of wastewater to ensure products which must be safe for public consumption. He also looked into the newly-opened PyinOoLwin District Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection office, established to better support MSME development in the district.

Meeting with staff, the Union minister called for upgrading laboratory capacity and personnel skills so that food products made by MSMEs can be tested to international standards. He urged officials to stay close to ground realities, identify the specific needs of MSMEs in their respective districts, and provide timely, effective technical assistance.

The Union minister then proceeded to the Soap Factory (Mandalay) in Aungmyaythazan Township and the Mahaaungmyay District Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection office to inspect repairs to buildings and machinery damaged by the recent earthquake. He instructed that all reconstruction and rehabilitation work must comply strictly with the Myanmar National Building Code Guidelines 2025.

He also visited the Hline Colour Corrugated Iron Sheet Industry, Taw Win CI Sheet Line Industry, and Top One One CI Sheet Line Industry in the Mandalay Industrial Zone of Pyigyidagun Township to encourage production activities and discuss operational requirements with management.

He later travelled to Kyaukse Township to inspect the Pharmaceutical Factory (Inyaung) and the Household Goods Factory (Minzu), and to Myittha Township to check on the No 7 Textile Factory (Myittha), reviewing ongoing restoration of quakeaffected structures and equipment at each site. The Union Minister also examined progress and issued guidance to ensure safe, timely completion of repair works.
