MYANMAR detained 17 Filipinos, two Indians, two Chinese nationals, one Malaysian and one Ethiopian, totalling 23 individuals, involved in telecom fraud and other criminal activities in Kayin State yesterday.

Between 30 January and 16 July 2025, a total of 9,247 illegal immigrants were identified and detained in Myanmar. Of this number, 9,055 individuals have already been deported through Thailand to their respective countries, while arrangements are being made to deport the remaining 192 individuals. These individuals are currently under detention while awaiting repatriation.

The government is strictly cracking down on online scams and online gambling by cooperating with other countries, including neighbouring countries.
