Courts have sentenced human traffickers to 10 years in prison for their role in trafficking Myanmar girls to China, where they were intended to be married to Chinese men.
Nam Kham Li, from Tangyan Township, persuaded two young girls from Tangyan with the promise of earning K21 million by becoming brides for Chinese men. She then sent the girls to Ma Aye Pee in Pangsang.
Tangyan Myoma Police Station filed a case under Sections 35 and 44 of the Prevention and Protection of Trafficking in Persons Law, and the Tangyan District Court sentenced Nam Kham Li to 10 years in prison under Section 35 on 4 June.
Similarly, it has been reported that a warrant has been issued for the absconding accused, Ma Aye Pee, under Sections 87 and 88 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
