THE first day of the second meeting of the Ninth 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee began at the Vijaya Mangala Dhamma Thabin on Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon yesterday.

Present at the occasion were members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee led by Presiding Nayaka Sayadaw of Thanlyin Min Kyaung Pahtamapyan Monastery, Aggamaha Pandita, Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin and officials.

Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa presided over the meeting, and Joint Secretary Sayadaw Aggamaha Ganthavacaka Pandita Aggamaha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Jotissara acted as the master of ceremonies.

The Union minister supplicated the matters related to the religious affairs, and the Sayadaws discussed Vinicchaya affairs and religious-related matters during the meeting.

Senior General Than Shwe (Retd) and wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing and family members donated day alms to the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee member Sayadaws who attended the ceremony yesterday.
