HEADS of State between Myanmar and China exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Myanmar Diplomatic Relations, which falls on 8 June 2025. The full texts of the messages are as follows: -
Excellency,
On behalf of the People of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and on my own behalf, I wish to extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to Your Excellency on the momentous occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and the People’s Republic of China.
HE Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Nay Pyi Taw Your Excellency,
have been characterized by deep-rooted “Pauk-Phaw” friendship and close people-to-people bonds. These relations, nurtured by successive Governments, have grown from strength to strength and were elevated to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in 2011.
The historic state visit of Your Excellency to Myanmar in 2020 marked a new chapter in our bilateral relations, during which both sides committed to building a Myanmar-China community with a shared future, founded on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and trust.
It is a matter of great satisfaction that our multi-faceted cooperation has continued to expand in depth and breadth. Notably, strategic projects under the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, are being implemented to the mutual benefit of our countries and peoples.
I also wish to recall our recent fruitful meeting in Moscow, during which we reaffirmed our shared commitment to advancing strategic cooperation, particularly in the areas of security, energy, and border stability, while enhancing coordination in regional and international fora.
Moreover, my productive visit to Kunming in November 2024 to attend the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit provided an excellent opportunity to explore enhanced cooperation in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, transportation, and public health. During that occasion, we also committed to intensifying joint efforts to combat online scams, which pose a growing threat to the security and stability of our region and beyond.
Taking this opportunity, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the Government and people of China for the timely and generous humanitarian assistance extended in the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Myanmar. This act of solidarity is a touching reflection of the profound friendship and shared compassion that binds our two peoples in times of adversity.
On this auspicious occasion, I would also like to reiterate our deepest gratitude for China’s steadfast support for Myanmar’s efforts to achieve long-lasting peace and stability, national reconciliation, and socioeconomic development.
I look forward to continuing close cooperation with Your Excellency to further deepen the existing bonds between our two countries and usher in many more decades of strong, resilient, and mutually beneficial partnership.
Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration, along with my best wishes for Your Excellency’s personal well-being and for the continued peace, prosperity, and progress of the friendly people of China.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing
His Excellency Mr Xi Jinping
President
People’s Republic of China
Beijing
In the past 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar, the Pauk-Phaw friendship has grown stronger amidst wind and rain. The two countries adhere to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Bandung Spirit advocated by both sides, uphold good-neighbourliness and friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and firmly support each other on issues related to our respective core interests and major concerns, which has set a good example of friendly interaction among countries.
When we met in May this year in Russia, we reached important consensus on promoting China-Myanmar community with a shared future. China attaches great importance to the development of China-Myanmar relations. Taking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity, China is ready to work with Myanmar to accelerate high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, deepen and substantiate the construction of China-Myanmar community with a shared future, and bring greater benefits to the peoples of our two countries.
I wish Myanmar enjoy prosperity and its people well-being.
Xi Jinping
President of the People’s Republic of China
