HEARTEDLY commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Myanmar Non-Governmental Organizations held a cultural dialogue and an international day event at Hotel Ru Yi in Mayangon Township, Yangon, on 5 June.

It was attended by Chinese Ambassador Ma Jia, U Nu Daw Myayi Foundation President Daw Than Than Nu, Myanmar-China Friendship Association Chairman U Tin Oo, Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies Chairman U Thant Kyaw, Myanmar Music Association Chairman U Lwin Myint, and Myanmar Theatrical Association Chairman U Phoe Chit, among others.

“Just as we have stood together through thick and thin for 75 years, the friendship between China and Myanmar has sung a proud and joyful song. In today’s changing international community, China and Myanmar have built a common destiny by supporting each other, standing together, and walking hand in hand into the future,” said Ambassador Ma Jia.

Pauk-Phaw is a word that truly reflects the family friendship between China and Myanmar, and civil organizations have played an indispensable role in the great cause of bilateral friendship. On the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, continuously using our advantages and promoting cultural exchanges as well as mutual learning, the ambassador hoped that the PaukPhaw concept could be deeply rooted in everyone’s hearts.

“Although bilateral diplomatic relations have been established for 75 years amidst challenges and requirements, the cultural, mutual respect and cooperation between the two countries have been growing at a rapid pace. In the future, may the friendship between the two countries continue to be strong as long as the world exists,” said U Tin Oo.

The ceremony featured performances by a Myanmar Zawgyi puppet show, Myanmar folk dance, and a China-Myanmar orchestra, and prizes were awarded to the winning works of the CITIC Star short story competition with displays.
