AS of 1 June, a total of 3,740 people died, 5,104 were injured, and 67 remain missing in six regions and states of Myanmar that were severely affected by the powerful earthquake that struck on 28 March.
Search and rescue teams from the Myanmar Fire Brigade, along with local and international rescue organizations, have been conducting emergency operations in the affected areas without delay. To date, 653 individuals have been rescued alive from collapsed buildings, and the bodies of 817 deceased persons have been recovered.
Local donors and philanthropic individuals have been providing financial aid and relief supplies to those affected by the disaster. Similarly, foreign governments, international organizations, and charitable donors have contributed monetary and material assistance.
Between 5 pm on 31 May and 5 pm on 1 June, 2.5 tonnes of Oral Cholera Vaccine-OCV arrived at Yangon International Airport, donated by Shanghai United Cell Biotechnology Co Ltd from China.
These medicines have been transferred to the Ministry of Health for using in healthcare activities.
