Tatmadaw members, Myanmar Police Force members, foreign rescue squads and volunteers are making concerted efforts in rescue and rehabilitation operations in the Mandalay earthquake-affected areas.

Lt-Gen Thet Pon from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) inspected the collective cleanliness activities in Sagaing town, the construction of modular offices for the district Fire Services Department in Tagaung ward, and observed the Sakuhmaw relief camp for quake victims.

He attended the ID cards and household list handover ceremony under the Pankhinn project at the 700th Anniversary Gymnasium in Parami ward and inspected the processes. He also provided the Malaysian medical team with food.

Lt-Gen Myo Moe Aung from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) yesterday went to the Inwa Bridge, which had collapsed due to the earthquake, and observed the opening of a temporary office, meeting hall and work processes, and presented foodstuff.

He proceeded to Weikza Linkaya monastery in Mahaaungmyay Township and paid homage to the Presiding Sayadaw. He observed the damage in the monastery compound, the clearing of debris at the collapsed buildings and the reconstruction processes.

Lt-Gen Soe Tint Naing from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) inspected the clearing of debris at the collapsed building at religious sites in Aungmyaythazan and Amarapura townships by Tatmadaw members, police members, firefighters and social organizations. He also inspected the maintenance works on ancient pagodas, and free healthcare services, and donated cash to Sayadaws.

Lt-Gen Myo Thant Naing from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) inspected the sprinkling of holy water along the Yangon-Mandalay Highway and cleanliness activities on the road.

He then proceeded to monasteries in Kyaukse to inspect the maintenance work and observed the construction of three school buildings at BEHS (Kume) in Myittha Township.

The construction materials were sold in Kume Township, and 735 people purchased the construction materials. He observed the sale of 37,830 bags of cement, 76 tonnes of 10-millimetre iron bars, 123.50 tonnes of 16-millimetre iron bars and 2,453 sheets of plywood.
