TASK force members from Drug Enforcement Division of the Myanmar Police Force seized quantities of stimulant tablets in separate incidents in Kalaw and Tachilek townships, according to the MPF.
At around 9:30 pm on 8 May, a combined team searched Nay Htoo Aung near Nantpantak Village in Watphyuyay Village-tract, Kalaw Township, under suspicious circumstances. The search led to the discovery of 30,000 stimulant tablets. Valued at K500 per tablet, the estimated local market value of the seized drugs is around K15 million.
In another operation at 5:15 pm on 9 May, the combined force stopped and searched a motorcycle driven by Myint Myat Aung (aka) San Shay in Weinkyauk Ward, Tachilek. Authorities found 4,000 stimulant tablets, worth an estimated K2.8 million based on the local rate of K700 per tablet.
Authorities took action against both offenders under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law. — MNA/KZL
