AYEYARWADY Foundation donated 22,000 masks, K22 million and 220 rice bags to 11 monasteries and nunneries in Yangon Region, the foundation stated.
The donation also reached the Ywarma Pariyatti Monastery in Insein and Theindawgyi Pariyatti Monastery, in which some monks infected with the COVID-19, and other monasteries and nunneries.
The masks donated by the foundation are self-made surgical masks. The foundation has recently started operating machines to produce the covers amid the COVID-19 crisis, with the guidance of foreign experts.
The plant has a daily production capacity of 50,000 masks (with 5,000 units per hour). The foundation will also distribute 5 million masks for free to vulnerable people with low income.
Ayeyarwady Foundation has cooperated with the Ministry of Health and Sports since the COVID-19 outbreak in March. It built the COVID-19 treatment centre, extended treatment facilities and also provided accommodation and transportation to the health care professionals.
