Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.
On 28 February, the combined teams impounded six kinds of industrial material worth K143.294 million without official documents from five containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port, two kinds of industrial materials worth K7.142 million without official documents from a container at the Myanmar Terminal (TMT) Port, an unregistered Mazda Bongo (approximately K18 million) in Loikaw Township, a Mitsubishi Canter truck (approximately K30 million), travelling from Kyaikto to Yangon, carrying two kinds of consumer goods valued at K2.01 million without official documents near Shwethanlwin tollgate in Phayagyi, an unregistered Toyota Voxy (approximately K2 million) in Phado, Nyaunglebin Township, and 3.372 tonnes of illegal timbers (approximately K458,592) in Nyaunglebin and Pyay districts. The action was taken under the Export-Import Law, the Forest Law, and Customs procedures.
On 1 March, the combined on-duty teams seized 11 kinds of industrial materials valued at K15.988 million without official documents from a warehouse in Hpa-an Township, an unregistered vehicle and an unregistered motorbike (approximately K10.3 million) at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint in Sagaing Township and an unregistered vehicle (approximately K5 million) in Sagaing Township. The action was conducted under the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 14 arrests on 28 February and 1 March, seizing illegal goods worth approximately K234 million.
