Speaking at the event, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, in his capacity as Chairman of the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee, mentioned the guidance of the Head of the State highlighting “an illiterate person is like a person sitting who don’t move forward while a literate person is like a walking person”, and added that a book that one has not read is a new book. Plans are underway to reissue good books out of the old books. The readers should read, memorize and think. Some youths go to wrong way after being persuaded by the unscrupulous people as they do not read and are poor in knowledge.
The Head of State organized reading habit-raising campaigns to develop human resources. However, the unscrupulous people intentionally spread misinformation and disinformation to mislead the people. Therefore, arrangements should be made to provide the public with proper knowledge to know the actual situation.
