ON 23 February, unit commander Phoe Thingyan (aka) Tagu (son of U Chit Pe) from Company 9 of the Kalay District PDF terrorist group entered the legal fold with his one Type-81 gun, 125 bullets, three magazines and one grenade at the Tatmadaw station in Kalaywa township of Sagaing Region.

According to his confession, he attended terrorist training at Kalay District PDF terrorist group company-9 base about 1,350 metres from Oakpo village of Mawlaik township from 4 January to 21 March 2023. After the training, he served duties at that base and was promoted to deputy unit commander in April 2023. On 7 June 2024, he and his two fellows joined a 30-member PDF terrorist group in Taung Yar Te in Kwenan village in Kalaywa Township and scouted the Tatmadaw vessels in the Chindwin River.

On 20 October 2024, he moved to another station where 50 terrorists were residing in Khawma village and on 19 February 2025, he moved to Htantabin station by Kalaywa-Aungchantha Road where 20 terrorists were residing.

He gradually understood the destructive actions of PDF terrorist groups like asking for money from people, bullying and murdering civilians unlawfully with weapons. He was determined to live in the framework of law and believed in the peace processes of Tatmadaw. Therefore, he surrendered the armed struggle line and entered the legal fold. The authorities from Kalay station warmly welcomed him and provided him and his family with proper security measures.
