NEARLY 4,000 pilgrims from various regions have visited the Buddha Pujaniya festi­val of the Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda in Minbu (Sagu) Township, Magway Region, according to U Aye Ko, Chair­man of the Pagoda’s Board of Trus­tees.

The annual Buddha Pujaniya festi­val of the Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda is traditionally held from the 5th waxing day of Tabodwe until Myanmar New Year’s Day.

“As in previous years, the festival began on the 5th waxing day of Tabod­we (2nd February) and will continue for 75 days. Currently, 484 lodging houses and 419 shops have been set up for visitors. The number of pilgrims is noticeably higher on weekends and public holidays compared to regular days. So far, over 600 pilgrimage ve­hicles have arrived, bringing nearly 4,000 visitors,” said U Aye Ko.

He also mentioned that security measures have been put in place along the route to the Mann Shwesettaw Pa­goda and within its vicinity, ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for the pilgrims.
