The Media Development Department of the Ministry of Information will host the Workshop on Mastering Government Communication: Empowering Spokespersons for Effective Public Engagement from 26 to 28 February at Horizon Lake View Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

The representatives of ASEAN member states arrived in Yangon yesterday to attend the workshop and were welcomed by relevant officials at the Yangon International Airport.

The workshop is held as a project of the ASEAN subcommittee on culture with the ASEAN Cultural Fund aiming at mastering government communication empowering spokespersons for effective engagement between media and the government, distributing keynote speeches, and exchanging skills and knowledge to solve the crisis in addition to building trust between the government and the public.

The representatives from Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Indonesia, and the ASEAN Secretary-General Office will attend the workshop, and the representatives from Japan will join as observers. The relevant officials of the ministries concerned, and officials of media fields including the Myanmar Press Council will also attend as observers.
