The Department of Highways under the Ministry of Construction is trying to complete road expansion on the main road sections linking Yangon and Ayeyarwady regions within the set timeframe.
The department is endeavouring to finish upgrading the road sections including Yangon-Pathein Road, Pathein-Ngwehsaung Road and Pathein-Shawpya-Chaungtha Road.
Upgrading of the 220 feet long reinforced-concrete bridge 1/106 from two to a four-lane road, road expansion of 48 feet wide asphalt concrete road, upgrading of the bridge to a four-lane road, 48 feet wide four-lane asphalt concrete road and 260 feet long and 28 feet wide RC concrete bridge on Yangon-Pathein road sections are included. Moreover, the upgrading of roads on Pathein-Shawpya-Chaungtha Road is being undertaken. The department is managing the project with momentum to complete it within the set timeframe.
