The Tatmadaw Thanlwin naval hospital vessel, with a team of doctors, specialists, and nurses provided healthcare services to locals from the Taninthayi coastal region, Yangon Region’s Cocogyun Township and Ayeyawady Region’s Hainggyikyun.
The vessel arrived at Pearl Island in the Bokpyin Township of Taninthayi Region, where they were warmly welcomed by local officials, departmental staff, community members, teachers and students.
The medical team provided healthcare services to 320 people from Pearl Island and nearby villages, based at the Bokpyin Township’s Basic Education High School (branch) on Pearl Island.
They treated 97 people for general health issues, 22 for surgery-related ailments, 22 for Obstetrical and gynaecological issues, 20 for pediatric illnesses, 55 for orthopaedic diseases, 10 for ear, nose and throat disorders, 59 for eye diseases and 33 for dental issues.
Among those treated, four general surgery patients, four eye surgery patients, five X-ray patients, 16 patients tested with ultrasound, 43 patients examined using ECG machines and 50 patients undergoing laboratory tests were provided with necessary medical treatment.
Two patients in need of hospital care were arranged to be sent to the nearest Tatmadaw or general hospital for further treatment.
