COLLECTORS are becoming buyers and sellers in the antique market, according to various antique dealers.
The antique market has not yet recovered from its previous boom, but hobbyist collectors are trading and there are still some activities in the market.
“People collect out of their hobby and sell them back. Buyers like us can get at-cost prices. The market is not as good as it used to be. Buying and selling is a personal matter. For example, if you buy an item for K20,000, you can have a price of K22,000 or 23,000. The market is running on its own. Some of them are selling their collected items at a loss. Some collectors have entered the trading industry,” said Ko Wai Yan, an antique dealer in Thingangyun Township.
There are various kinds of products in the antique market, including silver coins, Hintha weights, lamps, and surplus old household accessories.
“The antique market is running at its own pace. Some people trade coins, Hintha weights, and lamps. Some sell old household items. They are running on their own, “he said.
