NGWETAUNG Beach, located in Hainggyikyun, Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyawady Region, welcomed over 44,355 travellers in December 2024, as tourists have been visiting the beach year-round to relax and unwind, according to the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association (Ngwetaung Beach).
The Ngwetaung Beach, situated near the prominent Mawtinsun Pagoda, is a popular destination for domestic tourists throughout the year. Most visitors come from Yangon Region and Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.
Daw Ni Ni Mar, an executive of the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association (Ngwetaung Beach), stated, “In 2024, Ngwetaung Beach saw 35,455 visitors in January, 36,555 in February, and 38,955 in March. The numbers peaked in April with 48,955 visitors, followed by 54,555 in May.
During the rainy season, there were 17,455 visitors in June, 15,455 in July, and 14,155 in August. In September, the figure rose to 17,566, followed by 21,155 in October, and 34,455 in November. The beach remains a year-round destination for domestic tourists seeking relaxation.”
To ensure visitors enjoy a safe and pleasant experience, the Ngwetaung Beach offers a range of services, including bicycle rentals, motorboat trips, and horseback riding. Local markets provide regional delicacies, souvenirs, and handicrafts for visitors to purchase.
