The Union Registration Board issued local association (temporary) registration certificate No Local/0226 (2022) to the Myanmar-Japan Friendship Association on 2 January 2025.

The association applied for a registration permit as a local association to the Union Registration Board under the Registration of Associations Law.

The Myanmar-Japan Friendship Association aims to enhance the friendship and socioeconomic ties between Myanmar and Japan. It promotes sector-specific communication based on existing bilateral relations, strengthens bilateral friendship, and fosters cooperation in various supportive projects and programmes initiated by the Japanese government, NGOs, and other organizations in Myanmar.

The Myanmar-Japan Friendship Association is organized aiming to enhance Myanmar-Japan friendship and socioeconomic of two countries, promote the sector-wise communication of people of two countries based on existing bilateral relations, strengthen the bilateral friendship and promote cooperation in comprehensive supportive projects and programmes launched by the Japanese government and NGOs and related organizations in Myanmar.

The association opens its office at No 23 (G 1), Shwe Zabu Riverview Condominium, Strand Road, Sin Min ward, Ahlon Township, Yangon.
