THE Myanmar Police Force has reported the seizure of heroin and stimulant tablets worth K575 million in Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay Region.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team, including members of the Anti-Drug Police Force, searched a HiAce vehicle at the corner of 35th Street and 55th Street in Chanayethazan Township at 3 pm on 27 December. The vehicle, driven by Hein Thu Aung with Than Zaw Nyein, was found to contain 2.8 kilogrammes of heroin.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Thein Naing Oo, who was responsible for transporting the drugs. He was apprehended at his residence at the corner of 54 (A) Street and 32 (A) Street in the same township at 3:30 pm on the same day. Authorities seized an additional 8.2 kilogrammes of heroin and 200,000 stimulant tablets from the location.

The police have initiated legal proceedings against the suspects and are continuing investigations to uncover others involved in the drug trafficking network.
