The launching ceremony of the two projects implemented under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Special Fund (2024) was held at Mingala Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Present on the occasion were Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, Deputy Minister U Myint Soe, Second Secretary of Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Mr Zhang Zhounghua, invitees and departmental officials.
The Union minister said at the ceremony that the Small-Scale Industries Department received two projects funded by the LMC Special Fund “promotion of raw crops based small-scale manufacturing” and “Promoting small-scale industries and upgrading digital skills of micro and small-scale enterprises for sustainable development of digital economy”, and these two projects will be implemented from September 2024 to August 2026.
These projects can bring benefits like producing quality and safe value-added food products, promoting the capacity of small-scale enterprises, widening the food safety knowledge of entrepreneurs and the public, promoting the socioeconomic status of rural people and supporting the MSMEs of the country.
The ministry received 15 projects with LMC Special Fund whereas nine projects were completed and the remaining projects are still in progress.
Under the “promotion of raw crops based small scale manufacturing” project, the Chinese experts will be invited to conduct ToT at the department, and the demonstrators of the department will open food production courses, MSME Business Plan Training and Food Safety Training for small scale entrepreneurs in rural and urban areas, conduct M&E and arrange a study tour to expand the knowledge of food manufacturing industry.
