The diamond jubilee of China-Myanmar diplomatic relations will be commemorated in 2025 with a year-long series of events as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations, according to an announcement made during the China-Myanmar Media Tea Party on 2 December at the Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel in Mingala Taungnyunt Township, Yangon Region.

Minister-Counsellor Dr Zheng Zhihong of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar told Myanmar media in his remarks at the event that the Chinese embassy in Myanmar will carry out a series of commemorative activities in 2025, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Myanmar diplomatic relations.

“The upcoming year, 2025, is a unique occasion as it marks the diamond jubilee of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and the People’s Republic of China. I would like to inform you that throughout 2025, we will be carrying out programmes to commemorate this milestone. These activities will benefit the education, social, economic, rural development, cultural, and media sectors, which will contribute to the peace and development of Myanmar. We plan to carry out these activities in both Myanmar and China,” said Dr Zheng Zhihong.

The diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar were established when Myanmar recognized the establishment of the People’s Republic of China on 8 June 1950. In June 1954, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar was opened in Yangon, and in December 1954, the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to China was opened in Beijing, China.
