Deputy Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myint Soe received a delegation from Russia’s Tomsk State University, led by Mr Vorozhtsov Alexander Borisovich, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, yesterday.
The meeting took place at the ministry’s reception hall, where they discussed various educational and research programmes currently offered by the university. These embody the fields of agriculture, economics, and research innovation alongside the bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degree programmes available to Myanmar students. They also deliberated on the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for future cooperation between Tomsk State University and Myanmar’s Cooperative University, which would focus on academic exchanges, joint research, seminars and webinars. Scholarship opportunities for Myanmar students were also among the topics of the discussion.
In a separate meeting on the same day, Deputy Minister for Education Dr Zaw Myint also received the delegation at his office in Nay Pyi Taw. During the talks, both sides explored the status of mutual degree recognition agreements by signing the MoU between Myanmar and Russia, further collaboration between Myanmar universities and Tomsk State University, and increasing the number of Myanmar students sent to study in Russia under scholarship programmes.
