Union Minister for Labour U Myint Naung called on Mr Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of Lao PDR, in Vientiane yesterday.
During the meeting, they signed the MoU and MoA on cooperation in labour affairs. They also discussed matters related to the migration of regular labourers, issuance of documents for border-crossing labourers and enhancement of bilateral cooperation in solving the challenges regarding regional labour affairs.
At noon, the Union minister visited the factory of Alpilao International Sole Limited in Vientiane and met Myanmar migrant workers.
During the meeting, he clarified the remittance of their salary of at least 25 per cent to their families via the official banking system or the banks with a Remittance Business Licence (RBL) of the Central Bank of Myanmar and the need to transfer once a month or once every three months, with at least 25 per cent of the total earnings.
Then, he presented gifts to workers, marking the Thadingyut Festival.
