THE 2019-2020 Academic Year Basic Education Student Sports Festival awarding ceremony was held at 6 pm in Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Deputy Minister U Win Maw Tun, directors-general and deputy directors-general of MoE, officials from the Ministry of Health and Sports, and coaches and students from across the states and regions attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, the Union Minister, Deputy Ministers U Win Maw Tun and Dr Mya Lay Sein and the directors-general conferred awards on the winning teams for football (men, women), volleyball (men, women), and men’s sepak takraw competitions. The sports festival began on 26 December, 2019, and will end on 2 January, 2020, with competitions held for four sports (football, volleyball, track and field, sepak takraw).
The results are 15 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals for Taninthayi Region, 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze for Shan State, 2 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze for Magway Region, 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze for Bago Region, 2 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze for Kachin State, 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze for Ayeyawady Region, 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze for Yangon Region, 1 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze for Mon State, 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze for Mandalay Region, 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze for Sagaing Region, 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze for Nay Pyi Taw, 1 gold and 1 silver for Kayah State, 1 silver and 3 bronze for Kayin State, 1 silver and 1 bronze for Chin State, and 2 bronze for Rakhine State, according to the Ministry of Education.
