UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat illegal trade continue effectively in accordance with the law.
On 14 September, the Magway Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections, resulting in the seizure of four unregistered vehicles valued at approximately K1.3 million across Magway, Minbu, Thayet, and Aunglan districts. The action was taken under the Import and Export Law.
On 15 September, the Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized illegally transported food items worth approximately K27.5 million, along with one Nissan Condor Truck and one Nissan Diesel Truck valued at about K85 million in Zeyamyaing Ward, Mawlamyine Township. The action was conducted in line with Customs procedures.
On 16 September, the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized 9.161 tonnes of illegal timber, valued at approximately K3.11 million, in Pyay District and Thayawady District. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, the Taninthayi Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized one unregistered Honda Fit worth approximately K7.5 million in Dawei Township. The action was taken under the Import and Export Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that between 14 and 16 September, 11 arrests were made, leading to the seizure of illegal goods valued at approximately K124.41 million.
